- 1). Make sure your iPhone's firmware is up to date. You can do this by connecting your iPhone to your computer and opening iTunes. Click on the icon for your iPhone and click on "Update" in the main application window. You will be alerted if there are any firmware updates available to help your 2.1 software function at its peak.
- 2). Delete any applications, music, videos, photographs or other data that you no longer use or need. The more space taken up on your iPhone, the slower it will move, particularly in the case of applications.
- 3). Reset your iPhone. You can do this either by simultaneously holding down the home and power buttons until you see the Apple logo, or by touching "Settings," then "General," then "Reset," and then "Reset Network Settings." This can help when your iPhone is running sluggishly.
- 4). Clear out old, unneeded text conversations and clear your browser cache. You can clear your cache by touching "Settings," "Safari," and then "Clear Cache."
- 5). Turn off your Bluetooth or Wi-Fi settings when you are not using them. This will also save battery life.
