- 1). Cut four sheets of polystyrene insulation that will fit inside an opaque plastic bin, using scissors. The bin should have a lid that allows you to easily access the plants for watering and repotting.
- 2). Attach the polystyrene sheets to the inside of the plastic bin with glue. These will help hold in heat and keep the grow box temperature stable. Allow the glue to dry completely.
- 3). Place one or two grow lights with timers inside the grow box. Grow lights provide natural light necessary for plant growth, as well as heat; the timers will turn the lights on and off to mimic the natural cycle of sunlight and darkness.
- 4). Store the grow box near an outlet in a warm location so that the grow lights can be plugged in. Place plants in the grow box and put the lid on top of the bin. Water the plants regularly. Leave the lid on to help trap extra heat; remove it only when harvesting plants, watering or repotting.
