How to Find a Serial Number For an iPod

How to Find your iPod Serial Number

    • 1). Check your iPod original purchase receipt. The serial number is located on the receipt, but if you've misplaced the receipt move to step 2.

    • 2). Check the original packaging. The iPod serial number can be found on the box of the original iPod packaging. If you no longer have the original box, then continue to step 3.

    • 3). Turn your iPod over, the serial number can be found on the back of the iPod near the bottom. After time, scratches and smudges can make this hard to read. If you can't read the serial number, then move on to step 4.

    • 4). Connect iPod to your computer. When iPod appears in iTunes, select it on the left side of the iTunes window under "Devices." Click the Summary tab, and your iPod's serial number will display on screen. For the iPod shuffle (1st and 2nd generation), click the Settings tab. If you don't have iTunes installed or for whatever reason you are unable to use this method, continue to step 4.

    • 5). On your iPod Select "Settings > About." For the iPod touch, select "Settings > General > About."

If all of these steps fail, you will need to contact Apple Support. If you registered your iPod, then Apple might be able to provide you with your serial number.
