- 1). Pop off the end cap with a flat-head screwdriver from the head rail if the tilt chain is difficult to operate. The head rail is the long metal piece the blind slats are attached to.
- 2). Search for the pulley with the metal rod in the center, once you have removed the end cap and can see inside the head rail. Lightly tap the end of the rod with the screwdriver to loosen the pulley. Replace the end cap and test the tilt chain. The blinds should be easier to operate now.
- 3). Shorten the tilt cord on the blinds it it is too long. This will make it easier to operate.
- 4). Peer inside the head rail and find the vane carrier that has the cord with a knot tied in it. Firmly hold the vane carrier with one hand, while you are pulling out the extra cord with your other hand. Pull the cord until you reach the appropriate length.
- 5). Tie a knot in the cord at the desired length. Tug on the control chain to make sure the blinds will still operate at this cord length. Cut the cord with scissors just beneath the knot.
