- 1). Remove the iPhone from its source of extreme heat or cold. If you're out at the pool, for example, and left the phone sitting in direct sunlight, place it under the shade of an umbrella. If you accidentally left the phone in the refrigerator when you were getting a snack, remove it and place it on the kitchen counter.
- 2). Wait for the error message to disappear automatically. The iPhone goes into error mode automatically to prevent damage to itself and exits this mode is likewise automatically.
- 3). Resume using the iPhone normally as soon as the device exits error mode. The iPhone doesn't shed the error message until its temperature has re-entered the safe operating range, so you can't damage it by using it once the error message disappears.
- 4). Restart the iPhone if the error doesn't go away automatically. This indicates that the device has become operationally frozen due to extreme temperatures. Hold down the "Lock" and "Home" buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears on the screen.
