How to Get Rid of Water Marks on a Concrete Counter

    • 1). Mix 1 tablespoon of dish-washing liquid and 1 cup of water. Soak a sponge in the soapy mixture and wipe the stained area of the concrete counter. Wet the sponge with water to rinse out the soap and wipe the counter again to remove any soap residue. Wipe the area with a dry towel and wait for the counter to dry.

    • 2). Soak a cotton ball with bleach. Put the cotton ball on the water mark and place a weight, such as a mug or a glass, on the cotton ball. Leave it for five to 10 minutes.

    • 3). Sand the stained area if the bleach does not remove the water mark. Start with a 1200-grit sandpaper, moving up to a 1500-grit sandpaper and lastly a 3000-grit sandpaper. The last sandpaper has a very fine grit that will help shine the counter.

    • 4). Dampen a towel with water and wipe the counter to remove the sanding dust.
