How to Tie a Bunny Leech Fly

    • 1). Clamp the vise on the lower half of the hook bend. Wrap the thread from the hook eye to the hook bend, covering the entire shank with thread.

    • 2). Pull a pre-cut rabbit strip from the packaging. Measure the tip of the strip to match the length of the shank. Hold the base of the measurement on the hook bend. Stroke the fur on the strip to expose the hide and make 15 thread wraps to secure the strip on the hook.

    • 3). Lift the remainder of the rabbit strip and wrap the thread behind the strip and down the hook shank. Stop at the hook eye.

    • 4). Wrap the rabbit strip around the hook shank until you reach the eye. Make a slight overlap with each wrap and stroke the fur towards the hook bend as you make the wraps. Make 15 thread wraps over the strip at the bend and cut the excess rabbit off the hook.

    • 5). Wrap the thread at the hook eye to build a thick thread head. Add a drop of instant glue to the head and cut the thread off the hook.
