- 1). Decide whether you'd like to incorporate the actual seashells onto a piece of art. Alternately, you can dip them in paint and use the edges to make a design on canvas or poster board.
- 2). Immerse one-third of the seashells in paint. Remove them from the paint and let them dry for an hour, or until they are dry to the touch. Include painted and unpainted seashells in your project for variety.
- 3). Sketch a practice version of what you'd like to create with the seashells. You can also create something more free-form without planning.
- 4). Glue the seashells onto the canvas, forming an image of your choice. You can make a face, or something more complex, such as a landscape.
- 5). Dip the edges of one-third of the seashells into paint. Press the wet edges onto the canvas to leave a patterned design. Repeat as often as you'd like.
- 6). Let your finished piece dry for 24 to 48 hours before moving or touching it. Display it in an open area once it is ready.
