- 1). Park the car on a level surface and place the wheel chocks behind the rear wheels. Raise the car with the automobile jack on the side where you will start. Place a jack stand under the car near the jacking point and raise it up to the frame of the car.
- 2). Remove the wheel of the car using the lug wrench. Remove the brake caliper using the brake caliper socket and ratchet. The brake calipers on the Audi use a retaining screw that takes the hexagon socket. Secure the brake caliper to the strut using the wire ties so that the caliper is not simply hanging loose, stretching and possibly damaging it.
- 3). Remove the rotor from the axle assembly by pulling it off. Sometimes it will not come off easily and you have to hit it flatly several times with a hammer to break it free from the axle.
- 4). Spread some anti-seize compound on the new rotor on the rear of the mounting area. Place the rotor on the axle assembly.
- 5). Put the caliper back into place and tighten the retaining pins using the hexagon socket and ratchet. Tighten the bolts snugly. Replace the wheel on the car, remove the jack stand and lower the car back to the ground. Repeat the process on the other wheel.
