How to Fertilize Tristar Strawberries

    • 1). Apply a 10-10-10 fertilizer to the soil one month after planting the strawberries. Use 5 lbs. of fertilizer for every 100-foot row. Read the application directions for your chosen fertilizer as some need to be diluted in water while others can be applied as-is.

    • 2). Apply more fertilizer at the same rate in late August to promote healthy buds.

    • 3). Apply 3/4 lbs. of 10-10-10 fertilizer in January if you have sandy coastal soil. This type of soil is less capable of holding nutrients, so it requires an extra boost during the winter.

    • 4). Apply 3 lbs. per of 10-10-10 fertilizer per 100 feet of rows in late August of the second season. Apply another 3/4 lbs. in January for sandy coastal soils.

    • 5). Continue this fertilizing regimen for each additional year.
