How to Clean a 1986 Corvette Fuel Injector

    Fuel Additive

    • 1). Drive your Corvette until the fuel gauge is on empty.

    • 2). Pull into a gas station, turn off the Corvette, and open the cap to your fuel tank.

    • 3). Pour a bottle of fuel injection cleaner into your gas tank. Keep pouring until the bottle is completely empty.

    • 4). Fill up the gas tank with fuel.

    • 5). Repeat every 10,000 miles to keep the injectors clean.

    Direct Cleaner

    • 1). Start your Corvette and allow the engine to reach the normal operating temperature.

    • 2). Lift the hood and prop it open. Pour half a pint of direct cleaner into the throttle body throat. Do this slowly, allowing the engine to pull it through at the same rate you are pouring.

    • 3). Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.

    • 4). Pour a pint of direct cleaner into a nearly full gas tank.
