- 1). Look at your shifter knob to find a sliding shift button. It slides to the forward and back.
- 2). Put the lever in neutral with parking brakes engaged. Push down on the clutch as you turn your key switch to start the vehicle. Wait for air pressure to reach 90 to 120 PSI before you depress the brake and then the clutch to the floor to reach the clutch brake. Move the shifter to the starting gear, release the parking brake, slowly release pressure on the clutch and press down on the accelerator.
- 3). Accelerate through your current gear. When you are ready to shift to the next gear, push the shift button forward and simultaneously release pressure on the throttle or press the clutch down. When you do this, the RPMs will decrease until it shifts to the next gear. The tachometer will let you know when the shift is complete and you can press down on the throttle or release the clutch.
- 1). Preselect the gear you want to downshift to by sliding the button rearward while the throttle is still applied. This will be the next gear down from your current gear. Never downshift if your RPMs are above 1,400.
- 2). Immediately release pressure on the throttle or depress the clutch as you select the gear.
- 3). Watch the RPMs to indicate that the downshift is complete.
- 1). Accelerate through the gear you are currently in. Move the shift button rearward to the next gear and immediately release the throttle.
- 2). Push down the clutch just enough to break torque and put the shift lever in neutral. Don't push the clutch all the way down to the clutch brake.
- 3). Release the clutch pedal and allow the RPMs to decrease to match road speed.
- 4). Push down slightly on the clutch and simultaneously place the shift gear in the appropriate gear. Once the lever is in place, remove pressure from the clutch. Accelerate as needed.
- 1). Decelerate through the gear you are currently in. Move the shift button forward to the next gear down and immediately release the throttle.
- 2). Push down the clutch just enough to break torque and put the shift lever in neutral. Don't push the clutch all the way down to the clutch brake.
- 3). Release the clutch pedal and allow the RPMs to increase to match road speed.
- 4). Push down slightly on the clutch and simultaneously place the shift gear in the appropriate gear. Once the lever is in place, remove pressure from the clutch.
