How do I Change the Oil in a 91 3.0 Mercruiser?

    • 1). Warm up the oil in your MerCruiser. Run the engine for 10 to 15 minutes prior to pumping the oil out of the engine.

    • 2). Remove the dipstick. Attach the oil hand-pump to the threaded nozzle at the end of the dipstick tube. The end of the hand pump's hose should twist onto the threaded nozzle at the tube's opening.

    • 3). Remove the cap on the oil fill-tube. Pump the oil from your MerCruiser using the hand pump. Pump the oil into an empty oil tray or other receptacle.

    • 4). Remove the oil filter using a strap wrench. Wipe off any excess oil that spills from the oil filter. Clean the attachment point and the attaching end of your new oil filter.

    • 5). Attach the new oil filter. Fill your Mercruiser with 5 qt. of 15W-30 engine oil.
