- 1). Tape around the door handle on the door panel to protect the panel from minor scuffs or scrapes. Use blue painter's tape, which removes easily without leaving behind a residue.
- 2). Slide the window crank handle removal tool underneath the crank's knob until you feel it fall into a notch behind the window handle. The crank attaches to the door via a snap ring with an open end. If installed correctly, the opening of the snap ring will face the window crank knob.
- 3). Push the window crank tool against the window crank snap ring until the ring slides off. Pull off the window crank by hand.
- 4). If using a screwdriver, pry one end of the snap ring loose. Hold down the trim underneath the window handle, and push until you free the snap ring.
- 5). Gently peel the painter's tape off the door panel.
