- Trundle daybeds look like a cross between a sofa and a bed. Instead of a traditional headboard, there is a back to the bed so that, when not in use as as bed, it looks like additional seating. Trundle daybeds come in various styles, such as button tufted leather or with wood or metal frames.
- When you have three children sharing a room or two children sharing a bedroom and need an overnight guest bed, choose bunk beds with a trundle bed beneath the bottom bunk bed. When not required, it appears as a normal bunk bed set, but you can slide out the trundle bed and accommodate a third person.
- Captain's beds are made with drawers below the mattress for extra storage. Some captain's beds are made with a trundle bed. At first glance, the bed may appear to be a regular captain's bed with six drawers below the mattress, but it is actually three working drawers beneath the trundle bed that slide out.
- Typically, trundle beds slide out just above the floor. For anyone who may have difficulty getting up and down from a low position, select a pop-up trundle bed. The frame is made of metal and has casters to slide under another bed. The frame is only about 6 inches high in a closed position but can pop up to 2 or 3 feet high to make getting in and out easier.
