- 1). Start the Tempo and remove the fuel system fuse. Once the engine stalls, turn the ignition off, remove the key and reinstall the fuse. You can locate the fuel system fuse by referring to the Tempo's specific owner's manual
- 2). Follow the fuel line forward towards the engine from the fuel tank. The filter is located in the line either against the frame underneath the seating area, or at the back of the engine well where the line rises up from the undercarriage to the engine.
- 3). Place the drain pan underneath the fuel filter and disconnect the fuel line from the filter using the fuel line removal tool. You can purchase one of these tools at most auto parts stores or professional tool retailers.
- 4). Pull the fuel filter up and out of the retaining band and place it in the drain pan.
- 5). Insert the replacement filter into the retaining band and connect the fuel lines to the replacement filer. Make sure the arrow on the replacement filter is pointing towards the engine. Push the retaining clips back down once the fuel lines are firmly seated on the filter.
- 6). Turn the ignition key to the run position, count to ten and turn it back to the "OFF" position. Turn it back to the run position again, count to 10 once more and then start the Tempo.
