Jasmine Flower Facts

    Types

    • Other varieties of jasmine include Arabian jasmine, which is used to make tea; primrose jasmine, which produces unscented (yellow) flowers that bloom in late fall or early spring; and downy jasmine, which bears clusters of white flowers that have a mild fragrance.

    Plant Care Considerations

    • Jasmine grows best in locations that provide access to full sunlight for up to four hours a day. These plants prefer moist soil. Manual watering often is necessary. Pinch off the tips of the plant frequently to waid it in growing outward instead of upward. For best results, fertilize jasmine plants on an occasional basis.

    Fun Fact

    • In India, jasmine is often referred to as "Queen of the Night" because of the strong frangrance the flower typically gives off at night.
