Well, Halloween was a little bit odd this year.
Living in a gated community, I was looking forward to all the little ones coming to the house for their treats.
Not knowing how many children would be ringing my doorbell, I made sure there was enough candy for an army!! At only 5:00 my doorbell rang and eight little costumed heads arrived yelling and wanting treats.
There was Minnie and Mickey, a Diva, a couple of little monsters, and a few unknown faces.
Had to put my little dog in his cage because he was a maniac and all the children made him bark with fear.
The kids asked for treats and left.
Not wanting to get caught up in any project, I turned Andrea Bocelli's latest concert on the TV and waited patiently for the next group.
Sure enough, about an hour later three more children appeared.
And that was it!! It was like a ghost town, no pun intended! Now what do I do with all that candy? Gone are the days that one spends hours going house to house, neighborhood to neighborhood, conjuring up candy.
I remember when I was growing up, we would stay out for hours on end, walking miles to get our treats.
We would have pillow cases instead of little pumpkin containers.
We would have candy for months.
I grew up in a big family so my Mom would separate all our candy, lollipops in one bowl, tootsie rolls in another, etc.
Things sure have changed.
I guess for the best.
Now I have to get busy eating all that candy!
