Frog Birthday Party Ideas

    Invitations

    • The invitations need to follow the theme of the party. One idea for a clever invitation is to cut a lily pad out of construction paper, and write "Leap on over for [insert child's name's] birthday." Put the details on the other side of the pad. Send a little magnetic frog with the invite. Or cut out a frog from construction paper, make a slit where its mouth is and cut out a tongue. Leave part of the tongue out of the mouth and tape a cut-out of a fly with a note that says "Pull" on the tongue. The party information will be revealed when the tongue is pulled. Frog-themed invitations can also be purchased online at www.frogstore.com and at party stores.

    Decorations

    • Set up the tables with green or blue table clothes and frog-related toys, like lily pads and plastic frogs. Another idea is to set up an area like a forest. Use fake trees and have toy frogs peaking out at the guests. Create a frog pond by making a swimming pool into a plastic frog haven. Decorate with green streamers and balloons on the ceiling and walls. For an outdoor party, tie balloons to the chairs and tape streamers to the tables. Try taping plastic frogs peaking out of the streamers for more surprises.

    Games

    • If it is in the budget, rent an inflatable bounce house for the children. There are many low-cost games that children enjoy. Play pin the tongue on the frog. Use the same idea as pin the tail on the donkey, but print out a frog and several tongues for the kids to tape. Frog piñatas may be available at your local party store or you can order online at www.pinatas.com. Toward the end of the party, tell the children to find all the hidden frogs.

    Food

    • Frog-themed food will be entertaining for all the children. There are many ideas for decorating a frog cake or cupcakes. Most bakeries will work with your theme or if you want to make it yourself, www.cakecentral.com has a number of frog cake ideas. Make Frogs In A Pond, using punch in a bowl with plastic lily pads and frogs floating in it. There are many ways to make the child's favorite foods into a frog-themed food.

However you choose to plan the frog party, the children will have a hopping good time.
