How to Self-Pollinate Zucchini Flowers

    • 1). Determine which zucchini flowers are male and which are female. Female zucchini flowers have a short stem with an ovary, which will eventually form a zucchini if pollinated. Male zucchini flowers have a thin, straight stem that is longer than the stem of a female flower. The center of the male flower has a stamen, which is where the pollen is located.

    • 2). Cut a male flower from the stem and peel back the flower petals to fully expose the stamen. Gently rub the stamen in the middle of each female zucchini flower.

    • 3). Repeat the process with several male zucchini flowers. Use each male flower to improve the chances of self-pollination being successful and resulting in fruit that sets and grows.
