How to Fill a Bottle Jack With Oil

    • 1). Set the jack on a level surface and turn the oil filler plug counter-clockwise until it can be removed from the bottle jack. The plug is located half-way to three-quarters of the way up the main cylinder of the jack. It has a raised center ridge to allow for tightening and loosening by hand. If the plug is too tight to turn by hand, use a pair of pliers to grab the ridge and unscrew it.

    • 2). Pour hydraulic oil into the oil filler hole using a funnel. Fill the jack until the oil level is even with the bottom of the filler hole.

    • 3). Replace the fill hole plug and turn it clockwise until hand tight.
