- As detailed by eMedTV, in clinical studies with Verelan PM, the most common side effects were headaches, infections and constipation, occurring in 8 to 12 percent of participants in some studies.
- Side effects experienced in 2 to 3 percent of people included diarrhea, dizziness, indigestion, sore throat, sinus infections, runny nose, and flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills and body aches.
- Because Verelan PM can slow the heart rate and lower blood pressure, it can cause weakness, lightheadedness and fainting. Additionally, Verelan PM can aggravate symptoms of heart failure.
- Verelan PM can cause mildly abnormal liver tests, which typically return to normal if the patient stops using the medicine.
- Rarely, some people can experience an allergic reaction to Verelan PM. Signs include rash or hives, itching, swelling, difficulty swallowing, wheezing and difficulty breathing.
