"Mass Effect 2" on the Xbox: Collector Items to Redeem

    Collector Armor

    • The Collector Armor set increases Shephard's health regeneration rate by 10 percent, his storm speed by 10 percent and his maximum health by 20 percent. These bonuses increase Shephard's survivability and can be quite useful if he regularly finds himself in the thick of combat, taking a lot of damage. However, this armor set provides no bonuses to either weapon damage or tech and biotic powers; furthermore, it covers all gear slots and can only be replaced with another armor set as a whole, rather than upgraded slot by slot as is possible with the default N7 armor. Because of this, you may obtain better results by equipping the standard N7 armor and customizing it to obtain bonuses that suit you. For example, by equipping the N7 Helmet, Aegis Vest, N7 Shoulder Guards, Stimulator Conduits and Stabilization Gauntlets, you obtain a total bonus of 10 percent increased health, 10 percent increased storm speed and 8 percent increased weapon damage, effectively sacrificing some survivability in exchange for increasing the amount of damage you deal.

    Collector Assault Rifle

    • The Collector Assault Rifle, like all other assault rifles in the game, can be used by the Soldier character class from the beginning of the game; if your character belongs to a different class, you can unlock the assault rifle specialization during the "Collector Ship" mission if you so desire. Some of your team members, such as Garrus, Grunt, Legion, Zaeed and Samara, can also use this weapon. The Collector Rifle has a higher base damage than the assault rifle you start the game with, the M-8 Avenger, and doesn't lose accuracy from continuous firing or from movement; however, it has a lower spare ammo capacity and a lower rate of fire.

    Appearance

    • Both the Collector Armor and the Collector Assault Rifle are designed with the appearance of the insect-like Collectors in mind. As such, they have a greenish-brown color and an organic, chitinous appearance, with spikes extending from the gauntlets and glowing yellow eyes displayed on the helmet. Unlike the default N7 armor, the colors and appearance of the Collector Armor set can't be customized.

    Obtaining

    • The Collector Armor and Collector Assault Rifle are available for free with the "Mass Effect 2" Collectors' Edition for the Xbox, and may not be obtained through any other means. In game, you can equip both the armor set and the rifle as soon as you have escaped the Lazarus Research Facility. Before the "Freedom's Progress" mission, you can equip the items using the armor and weapons locker in the Cerberus facility; after that mission, you can do the same using the locker in the Normandy SR-2.
