- 1). Create a pattern for each of the letters that you wish to make, in the exact font and size, using a word processing program. Carefully cut the letters out of the paper after printing.
- 2). Lay the paper letter patterns on pieces of balsa wood and trace around them with a pencil.
- 3). Place the wood pieces on a hard, protected surface, so that the surface beneath the wood will not be damaged during cutting.
- 4). Trace around the penciled outlines, using a box cutter. The letters will need to be traced several times before they will completely break free of the boards.
- 5). Sand around the edges of the letters, to create smooth sides.
- 6). Set the letters on pieces of acid-free scrapbook paper and trace around them with a pencil.
- 7). Cut the letter tracings out of the paper.
- 8). Adhere the paper tracings to the wooden letters, using Mod Podge. Smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles.
- 9). Add three-dimensional stickers and other embellishments to the letters, after the Mod Podge is dry. Most anything that you choose can be attached with a hot-glue gun.
- 10
Hot-glue a looped length of ribbon to the back of each letter, for hanging.
