How to Cook Day Lilies

    Stir-Fried Day Lilies

    • 1). Choose your plants. While all day lilies are edible, select plants that you are sure have not been sprayed with pesticides.

    • 2). Harvest the day lily buds, by snipping off flower buds with a hand pruner or sheers.

    • 3). Clean the day lilies. Cut off any remaining stems and spray the day lily buds with water to remove any dust or dirt. Pat dry with a clean towel.

    • 4). Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan on medium heat. Add the day lily buds. Stir-fry on medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until desired crispness.

    • 5). Remove the pan from heat. Spoon the daylilies into a serving dish. Season with salt and pepper, and enjoy.
