How to Convert an OpenOffice Document to Google

    • 1). Navigate your browser to the Google Docs login screen. The login can be accessed from the main Google page at google.com by selecting "Documents" from the "More" menu option. Enter your Google account name and password, then click the "Sign In" button. Your Google Docs page will load.

    • 2). Click "File", then "Upload". The file upload and conversion screen will be displayed. Click on the blue "Select Files" link to open a file selection window. Navigate to the file you wish to convert and select it, then click the "Open" button. You will return to the file upload and conversion screen. The option to convert the document or spreadsheet is the default--leave the convert box checked.

    • 3). Click the "Start Upload" button. The file you selected will be uploaded and converted. Click the blue "Back to Google Docs" link to return to Google Docs. Your OpenOffice text or spreadsheet document has been saved using the same name as on your local computer and will appear in your list of Google Docs.
