- 1). Point your web browser to any of the websites listed in Resources. Don't be surprised when you see information and maps of your current location in front of you--these websites are designed to look up your IP address and provide you with basic information about it.
- 2). Notice that your website of choice also displays the name of your ISP--your Internet service provider. ISP information is encoded into IP addresses, which is how these services are able to determine it from the IP itself.
- 3). Visit any of these websites again in the event that you have the IP address of someone who has been harassing you or hacking your computer. Obtain his or her ISP information and contact the provider, who will investigate and possibly suspend or cancel his or her account.
