Front Headlight Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

• 1). Open the Impreza's hood and prop it open, using the hood support rod.
  
  
• 2). Unscrew the front corner light bolt, located in the engine compartment, above the headlight and near the front fender, using a Phillips screwdriver. Grasp the side of the corner light near the headlight lens, then pull the corner light towards the front of the Impreza until the hook on the outer edge of the corner light is free from the front fender.
  
  
• 3). Turn the bulb socket, located on the back of the corner light, clockwise one-quarter of a turn, then pull the socket out of the light. Gently push the turn signal bulb in, then turn it clockwise to release it from the socket.
  
  
• 4). Push a new 1156 turn signal bulb into the bulb socket, then turn the bulb clockwise to lock it into place. Push the bulb and the socket into the rear of the corner light, then twist the socket clockwise to lock it into place.
  
  
• 5). Activate the turn signals to verify that the new bulb flashes. Check that the bulb is locked securely within the bulb socket, if the bulb does not flash when the turn signal is activated.
  
  
• 6). Hook the tab on the outer edge of the corner light into the front fender, then push the corner light into place next to the headlight. Screw the corner light bolt into place.
  
  
• 7). Lower the Impreza's hood.
  
  

Front Bumper-Mounted Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

• 1). Unscrew the mounting bolt from the inner edge of the bumper-mounted turn signal, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the inner edge of the turn signal out of the bumper, by hand, until the entire signal assembly can be removed.
  
  
• 2). Turn the bulb socket, located at the rear of the turn signal assembly, counterclockwise one-quarter of a turn, then pull out the socket and the bulb.
  
  
• 3). Push the bulb into the socket, then twist the bulb counterclockwise until it can be pulled out of the socket. Push a new 1156 turn signal bulb into the socket, then twist the bulb clockwise to lock it into place.
  
  
• 4). Activate the turn signals to verify that the new bulb flashes. Check that the bulb is locked securely within the bulb socket, if the bulb does not flash when the turn signal is activated.
  
  
• 5). Hook the tab on the outer edge of the turn signal assembly over the lip of the signal mount cut into the front bumper. Push the inner edge of the turn signal into the bumper, then screw the mounting bolt into place.
  
  

Taillight Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

• 1). Open the Impreza's rear hatch or trunk lid. Remove the plastic taillight cover from inner panel behind the taillight, using the covers' molded-in release tabs.
  
  
• 2). Reach into the inner panel and grasp the smaller turn signal bulb socket, located at the rear of the taillight. Turn the socket counterclockwise one-quarter of a turn, then pull the bulb and socket out from the taillight.
  
  
• 3). Push the bulb into the socket, then twist the bulb counterclockwise until it can be pulled out of the socket. Push a new 1156 turn signal bulb into the socket, then twist the bulb clockwise to lock it into place.
  
  
• 4). Push the bulb socket into the taillight, then turn the socket clockwise to lock it into place. Slip the taillight covers' tabs into the inner panels' slots, then push the cover into place.
  
  
• 5). Activate the turn signals to verify that the new bulb flashes. Check that the bulb is locked securely within the bulb socket, if the bulb does not flash when the turn signal is activated.
