- 1). Prepare the planting soil two to three weeks before sowing. Bodacious corn will grow well in a wide range of soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH value. Loosen the soil using a garden hoe or shovel to a depth of 6 to 8 inches to ensure good drainage.
- 2). Sow the Bodacious corn seeds after the last frost, when the soil temperature has reached a minimum of 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Corn is a warm weather crop and the seeds will be slow in germinating in colder soil temperatures. Plant the seeds a half-inch deep in cooler soil, 1 1/2 inches deep for warmer soil.
- 3). Space the bodacious corn seeds 9 to 12 inches apart in two or more rows that are 30 to 36 inches apart.
- 4). Water the corn seeds to keep the soil consistently moist during germination and growing. Corn plants have shallow roots and require an inch of water per week. As your bodacious corn grows and begins to tassel, make sure the plants receive adequate water, with no dry soil periods, to ensure proper ear development with no missing kernels.
- 5). Feed the corn plants with well rotted mature when the plants have grown 12 to 18 inches tall. Side dress by adding one to two inches of manure at the base of each corn plant.
- 6). Use a garden hoe to control weeds between the corn plants and corn rows. Because of the shallow roots system of corn, hoe only to a depth of one to two inches.
