Homemade Dry Shampoo

    Oatmeal

    • Oatmeal works well to absorb dirt and oil in the hair, leaving it clean and oil-free. Use a few spoonfuls of dry oatmeal; work it into the scalp, and then brush it out.

    Corn Starch

    • Corn starch also works well in absorbing oil in the hair. Pour two spoonfuls of corn starch into your palms, rub together, then massage into the hair. Start at the scalp and work your way to the hair tips.

    Baby Powder

    • Baby powder also works well to eliminate dirt and excess oil. Sprinkle baby powder onto the scalp, and rub it into the hair.

    Baking Soda

    • Baking soda absorbs oil and brushes out of the hair easily without leaving a powdered residue. Sprinkle baking soda onto the scalp, and massage it into the hair.

    Scenting Your Dry Shampoo

    • If you would like to create a scented dry shampoo, simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, or spray the hair with a spritz of perfume after using an ingredient listed above. This will leave your hair clean and smelling fresh.
