How to Knit a Patch Pocket for a Scarf

  • 1). Cast on approximately 10 stitches--depending on the weight of the yarn and how wide you want the pocket to be.

  • 2). Work in garter stitch--knit every stitch--until the piece reaches four inches or your desired length.

  • 3). Bind off and weave in loose ends.

  • 4). Decide where to position the pocket; such pockets are usually near the ends of the scarf.

  • 5). Sew up the sides and the bottom of the patch using a large-eye blunt needle. Repeat these steps for the other end.
