Wheatgrass JuicesDetoxify The Body

Have you heard of wheatgrass juices? Dont feel bad, most people havent, but juicing wheatgrass can be a key part of a healthy drink. You can add it to any combination of vegetables youre juicing and the benefits are legion; vitamins, minerals, amino acids and those enzymes which help with digestive problems. Wheatgrass juices are also used as a preventative as it detoxifies the body, increases blood flow and is an excellent all-round addition to any diet. It also helps to alkalize and oxygenate the blood, boost the immune system and assists in regulating the thyroid.

And it contains seventy-five percent chlorophyll most green vegetables have a great deal less than that and chlorophyll reduces the risk of colon cancer. Its the blood of the plant world and its molecular structure is similar to our blood. No wonder its an important ingredient in some of the better vegetable juices; youll find that wheatgrass juices are right there with the rest of them.

Wheatgrass looks like grass. If you buy it in your local health food store, make sure its green and upright, not dry and tired-looking. It also comes as a powder or pill or you can buy it frozen and ready to use. But growing your own is definitely the best way you know that your wheatgrass is as fresh as it can be. Treat it like a houseplant which you water regularly and cut as required. There are wheatgrass kits which come with full instructions on how to use it.

The taste of wheatgrass can be challenging. But look at it this way; today, we unknowingly absorb toxins with our diet and from the environment. Wheatgrass juices are a powerful detoxifier and help to cleanse the body of many of those harmful elements. As its an extremely alkaline plant (good news), be careful you dont mix it with anything too acidic such as citrus or tomatoes. Try an ounce of juiced wheatgrass, mixing it with juices from carrots, cucumber and apple and the next day, try adding two ounces. Add some honey to sweeten it and add a little more of the wheatgrass juices each day. Three to four ounces is usually enough for most people some report a warm feeling as it goes down while others say that it gives them a stomachy feeling. Thats the detoxifying action, showing that your wheatgrass is doing its job.

Juicing wheatgrass can be done in your home juicer, but you might consider getting a masticating juicer. Its different in that it presses the juice more effectively from your wheatgrass in ways that your regular juicer doesnt. And you can use your masticating juicer for other vegetables and fruits as well. If you make too much wheatgrass juices, you can freeze it for later use.

A word of caution if youre new to juicing wheatgrass. Because of its strong cleansing effects, consume a little of it throughout the day just like many things, take a little at a time for the best effects. Dont drink it on an empty stomach and if you have a sensitive stomach, consider drinking wheatgrass juices every second day to start out. Youll still enjoy the benefits of wheatgrass and youll find that over a short period of time, youll be able to drink it every day.
