- 1). Wipe down the fender with a good quality de-greaser. Make sure as much debris, oil and wax is removed as possible. Use a clean rag to clean the fenders.
- 2). Rub down the entire fender with 000 steel wool. This will help smooth any heavy areas of oxidation and prepare the surface for painting. Rub the fender in one direction, avoid making swirls on the fender.
- 3). Wipe down the fender using denatured alcohol. Pour the alcohol onto a clean rag and wipe down the entire surface of the fender to remove any remaining grease, oils and debris from sanding.
- 4). Mask off the painted areas next to the fender with painters tape. Make sure to work the tape around painted surfaces near the fender. Cover wheels and larger areas near the fender with newspaper.
- 5). Spray the fenders with a quality paint that is formulated to bond with plastic. Apply a light coat and allow to dry. Repeat the process building several coats of paint until the desired results are achieved. Allow sufficient drying time between coats of paint.
