How to Make a Cape for a Boy

    • 1). Measure across the little boy's shoulders with the tape measure to determine the width of the cape. Write this measurement down. Measure the distance from the boy's shoulders to the back of his legs a few inched below the knee. Write this measurement down as well.

    • 2). Cut the piece of material to fit the measurements written down. Make the shoulders more narrow than the bottom so that the cape will have a flare over the straight-up-and-down look. Fold the edges of the material under to create a hem. Secure it in place with stick pins. Place the superhero logo in the center of the cape, if desired. Apply fabric glue to the logo design, and place it firmly to the center of the cape. Place a towel over the design, and iron it on.

    • 3). Sew a hem in the cape on all four sides using the sewing machine. Sew the design logo in the center of the cape around the edges as well. If a sewing machine is not accessible, a needle and thread can be used to sew it manually.

    • 4). Pin the cape to the back of the little boy's shirt with a safety pin when ready for use. Pin with the needle part facing away from the skin.
