- 1). Place the peace lily in a room with a temperature range of 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Nighttime temperature should be 55 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep peace lilies away from direct heat and cold drafts.
- 2). Select a location where the peace lily will receive partial and filtered sunlight. Keep the plant away from direct sunlight to protect the foliage. The leaves will turn yellow if the peace lily does not receive enough sun. The University of Arkansas said peace lilies can tolerate low light levels, but the plant may not flower.
- 3). Water the peace lily to moisten the soil when the first inch feels dry. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely. Allow the water to drain through the holes in the planter, and do not leave the peace lily sitting in standing water.
- 4). Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer to the peace lily as needed. The plant does not need to be fertilized often, but you can moderately fertilize the plant by feeding it with one-quarter of the recommended dosage. Follow the dosage instructions on the fertilizer to feed the plant properly.
- 5). Dust the foliage of the peace lily every other week. Use a damp washcloth to wipe down the leaves to remove dirt and dust.
- 6). Transplant the peace lily to a new pot each spring. Use a pot slightly larger each time to prevent crowding the roots if your peace lily is continuing to grow.
