- 1). Unscrew the screws holding the blinker switch housing in place. Set the screws aside. Gently pry the two sides of the switch housing apart. Disconnect the wires and set the switch housing aside.
- 2). Check that the length of the screwdriver is at least as long as the grips on the handlebars.
- 3). Insert the blade of the screwdriver inside the grip and wriggle the screwdriver handle back and forth as you travel around the entire handlebar. You will slowly inch the handlebar grip away from the handlebar as you jiggle it back and forth. Wiggle the handle grip about an inch down the length of the handlebar.
- 4). Spray some window cleaner between the handlebar and the handle grip. Allow the cleaner to sit for about three minutes.
- 5). Remove the screwdriver from under the handle grip. Try to twist the handlebar with your hands to break the glue bond. Continue to twist until the glue bond breaks and you can remove the handle grip from the handlebar. If the grip will not shift, repeat the screwdriver and window cleaning application once more.
- 6). Repeat for the other handlebar.
- 7). Wipe the handlebar down with adhesive remover and a soft cloth to remove all traces of adhesive. Sand the edge of the handlebar with sandpaper to roughen it up to improve the bond of the new handle grip.
