- 1). Go to Gmail.com to log into your Gmail account.
- 2). Click the gear icon at the top of the Gmail page next to your email address.
- 3). Select "Mail Settings" from the drop-down menu.
- 4). Click the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- 5). Choose your preferences for steps one and two of the "POP Download" section.
- 6). Click the "Save Changes" button to enable POP access.
- 1). Launch Outlook Express from your computer's "Start" menu.
- 2). Click the "Tools" tab, then select "Accounts" from the drop-down menu.
- 3). Click the "Add" button, then select "Mail" from the drop-down menu.
- 4). Enter the name you want to display with your email in the "Display name" field then click the "Next" button.
- 5). Enter your full Gmail email address in the "Email address" field then click the "Next" button.
- 6). Enter "pop.gmail.com" in the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server" field and "smtp.gmail.com" in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" field then click the "Next" button.
- 7). Enter your full Gmail email address in the "Account name" field and your Gmail password in the "Password" field then click the "Next" button.
- 8). Click the "Finish" button to save your Gmail information.
- 1). Click on "pop.gmail.com" under "Account" to highlight it then click the "Properties" button.
- 2). Click the "Advanced" tab to open the properties window.
- 3). Check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box under "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)," then enter "465" in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field.
- 4). Check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box under "Incoming mail (POP3)" and wait for the port to change to "995."
- 5). Click the "Apply" button then click the "Servers" tab.
- 6). Check the "My server requires authentication" box under "Outgoing Mail Server" then click the "OK" button.
