If you've recently been looking to upgrade your old dial up internet connection, it may be that you have come across a relatively new technology in the market: Satellite Internet Broadband. This works a little differently to what has traditionally been the case; instead of a signal coming into your home through s phone line or cable, it is instead beamed directly into your own satellite dish from miles up, before entering your computer through a cable connecting the two.
What may still be unclear however is what satellite internet can offer you that the other major technologies, such as DSL and Cable, cannot. Every choice has its advantages and disadvantages, and here we are going to briefly discuss the advantages of choosing an internet connection that uses satellite technology:
Availability:
The key advantage of satellite internet over cable and DSL is that it can be accessed universally, regardless of region. Cable and DSL both require specialist wiring and cables to run from a telecom centre into your home in order for you to take advantage of their services. This is no problem if you live in a large city such as New York, Boston or Los Angeles, where population density is high and it makes financial sense for municipal governments and cable companies to install this infrastructure. If you live in a remote, rural or hard to access area however, it is unlikely that you will have access to this infrastructure. With satellite internet, because the signal is received from the air there is no issue; already 99% of the United States of America has the capability to install and use it.
Staying Connected:
Another advantage of satellite broadband is that you can stay connected all the time provided that your computer is turned on. There is no log ins after installation, no frustrating waits for your computer to connect, just turn on the machine and you're ready to go.
Reliability:
Technologies such as cable and DSL are reliant on phone and cable systems running without a hitch. This doesn't always happen however; accidents do happen, and one failed wire could mean the loss of your internet connection for an unknown period of time. Happily this is not an issue with a satellite broadband connection, which because it provides internet signal free of cables and wires will not be affected by any troubles with communication infrastructure.
Ease of Installation:
Getting your satellite system up and running could not be made simpler. A trained technician will come to your house and install the dish for you, calibrating it to ensure the best possible signal is obtained. After this, you are ready to go online and enjoy the benefits of your new high speed broadband connection
