8 Year Old Birthday Party Idea

    Carnival Party

    • Carnival parties are great for eight-year-olds who are full of energy. Hire a clown and rent a bouncing machine. In addition to that, you will want to set up the back yard with stations for some fun carnival games. One station can be a ring toss and another a bean bag toss. There can be a duck pond with prize numbers under each duck. Make sure you have some cheap prizes to hand out to the children when they win. You can make carnival foods which include warm soft pretzels, hot dogs, and nachos with cheese. Another option is to rent a pony and have pony rides. When the children are all done with the games you can have them sit down and do some face painting on each other.

    Bowling Party

    • Bowling parties are great if you don't want to have a party at home and have to clean up a big mess. You can have parents meet you at the bowling alley with their children. Have the children divide up into teams of no more than four children per lane. Have the children each bowl two games. At eight years old you may want to request the bumper pads. For food you will want to order pizzas and soda. You may also want to bring a few bags of chips or allow the kids to order nachos and cheese. Then present your eight year old with a cake that has been decorated with a bowling ball and ten pins. For a final activity you can have the children open up a bowling pin pinata. Give them each an empty goodie bag and have them fill up with the candy that comes out of the pinata.

Optional: You can present the kids with some awards after they have finished bowling. The awards can be "Most amusing bowler", "Most fashionable bowler", or "Best bowler of the night".

    Shrek Party

    • If you are looking for a character theme for a Birthday party, Shrek is a great one. Shrek appeals to both boys and girls and can be used for parties that include both genders. You can get Shrek parties supplies such as Shrek cups, napkins, plates, and balloons from any department store. They are also available to order online. Have children play a game of musical Shrek. Start by putting on the Shrek soundtrack as the children pass around a Shrek toy. When the music stops the person holding the Shrek is out. The last child standing wins. As for food, you will want to serve green Mountain Dew and allow the children to have a belching contest like Shrek. You can then guide the children in making a dirt cake with gummy worms for dessert. Finish off the party with an activity. The children can place characters from the Shrek movie on the bottom of some paper cups. Each cup should be filled with some soda which you can call a potion. After the child drinks the soda, he must look at the bottom of the cup to see which character the potion turned him in to. He must then act like that character.
