- 1). Right-click "Computer" on the desktop. Click "Properties."
- 2). Click "Device Manager."
- 3). Scroll down to "Network Adapters." Right-click on the laptop computer's wireless card.
- 4). Click "Update Driver Software..." The latest version of the computer's device driver for the wireless card will be downloaded and updated. Make a note of the make and model of wireless card (which will be displayed on the screen), as you'll need it for future steps.
- 5). Restart the computer to complete the update of the device driver for the wireless card.
- 1). Open the web browser.
- 2). Go to the official website of the company that made the computer's wireless card and search for your unit by model number. This will bring up its product page.
- 3). Scroll down to "Support" and look for any available firmware updates. If any are available, click on them to download the firmware installer.
- 4). Double-click the firmware installer and follow the directions on screen to update the firmware for the computer's wireless card.
- 5). Restart the computer to finish updating its firmware.
