- The Coolest Kid Birthday Parties website suggests an indoor game called "Balloon Stomp." You'll need lots of balloons and rubber bands. Blow up the balloons and tie a rubber band around each one. Put the rubber band around each kid's ankles, preferably over their socks or pants legs. Make sure all the kids are wearing shoes. Then put on some music -- the object of the game is to stomp everyone else's balloons, while protecting your own. The last child to have an unstomped balloon is the winner.
- "Surprise Package" is a novel way to distribute party favors or other small gifts. The Kids' Birthday Party Guide website suggests assembling many boxes of similar size before the party. Make sure you have as many boxes as you will have guests, and select gifts or favors that both boys and girls will enjoy. Place one, nicer prize in a small box wrapped with gold foil and label it the "Grand Prize." Then place it inside a box that has the same size and appearance of the others. Have the children sit in a circle and begin playing music. While the music plays, the children pass one gift around the circle; but when the music stops, the child holding the gift claims it and leaves the circle. Do this until all the gifts have been claimed.
- The Disney Family Fun website suggests the party game "Might I Bite?" For this game, write the name of several animals on a folded piece of paper and put them into a bowl. Have each child draw one without peeking, and tape the paper to their foreheads with the name of the animal facing out, so the other children can read it. The player then asks yes-no questions about her animal, such as "Do I have fur?" "Do I have horns?" Let the children take turns until everyone has guessed their animal's identity.
- This simple game, suggested on the Activity Village website, has all the children sitting in a circle. The first one to start smiles a wide, goofy smile at the other players and gets a point for every child he can crack up. After a set time, he wipes his hand across his face, wiping the smile off his face, and passes the smile on to the next player, who then gets her turn. This game can be played for points, or simply as an icebreaker.
