It's been said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
While that may be a little simplistic, the general concept holds true.
If you fill your body with nutritious food that nourishes you, you lower the chance that you will get sick and have to visit the doctor or his nurse that wears the Barco scrubs.
Of course, there are many maladies that have nothing to do with your diet, since heredity plays a big part in many diseases and conditions.
But eating right can help keep you out of the doctor's office and enjoying life.
And while it may not always be the easiest thing in the world to plan and cook healthy meals, having good health is almost priceless.
You also may find that once you get in the routine, it's not that hard after all.
Many people worry about eating right, but may not know how to do it.
They claim ignorance on how to buy the right food and prepare it into something that actually tastes good.
While it can be a little daunting if you are starting from ground zero, there is no excuse to use the "I didn't know" defense about eating healthy.
There is a wealth of information in books, on the internet, and from all those medical professionals running around in cheap nursing scrubs that you see at the clinic.
Simply do a web search for "healthy eating" and you will find all sorts of resources that can help.
But it doesn't have to be rocket science.
The best healthy eating tips are the ones that are the easiest to employ.
And they're all pretty much common sense.
For one, cut out or limit the things that are really bad for you: fast food, soda, chips, cookies, and candy.
You would have to be living under a rock to not know these foods are bad for you, and do nothing but pack your body with hundreds of calories with very little nutrition in return.
Another tip that you'll get from those people in cheap nursing uniform scrubs is to eat lots of fruit and vegetables.
Now some will say "I hate fruit and vegetables".
While this may seem like a valid argument, it's unlikely that there are no fruits or vegetables that you can find that you like.
And they don't need to be eaten raw.
Fruit and vegetables can even be pureed and put into other foods to make their taste near untraceable.
The point is, the only person getting in the way of eating right is you.
Take control of your health and stay out of the doctor's office!
