Replace Headlight on a 1998 Honda Accord

    • 1). Park your Accord on a flat and level surface. Turn off the lights and the engine. Apply the parking brake and pop the hood.

    • 2). Go the to area inside the engine compartment that is directly behind the burned-out headlight bulb. If it is on the driver's side, you may need to remove the engine coolant reserve tank to reach the rear of the headlight assembly. The tank should lift up and out easily. Set it aside.

    • 3). Locate the electric cord that runs from the back of the headlight assembly to the Accord's battery. Unplug the cord from the headlight by pressing the tabs on the connector and pulling it free from the light.

    • 4). Grasp the now accessible bulb and turn it to the left about a quarter turn. This will release it, allowing you to pull it straight out of the socket. Insert the replacement bulb and twist it to the right to lock it in place.

    • 5). Plug the electrical cord back into the headlight assembly. If the coolant tank was moved, replace it. Close the hood.
