- 1). Decide on the costume. You can choose a cute animal like a monkey or bee, or a costume that will complement your own, such as you being Dorothy and your baby being Toto.
- 2). Decide on the key components of the costume. If your baby is going to be a bunny, then you'll need long bunny ears. For a pig costume, the color pink and the pig snout will be important.
- 3). Start with materials you own. If your baby already has a brown sweatsuit, then you can make a tail and ears, and you'll have a perfect monkey costume. If you have some overalls, just add some yellow fringe on the sleeves and hat to represent straw to make a scarecrow.
- 4). Use simple materials. If you need to make parts out of fabric, consider fleece: it's warm, and it doesn't fray when cut, so you won't need to finish or hem all the edges. If you really can't sew, you can make costume parts out of paper or cardboard and cover them with contact paper to make them last longer. Even recycled trash can make great costume pieces. For example, a pint-sized ice cream container could be washed and covered with pink fabric to make an I Dream of Jeannie hat.
