- 1). Remove the rear seat cushion by grasping under the bottom edge at the front of the cushion with your fingers and lifting upward. Pull the cushion from the rear of the car and place it aside. Remove the rear seat back by lifting it straight up and out of the car.
- 2). Access the top motor through the opening revealed after removing the rear seat back. Remove the two holding nuts in a counterclockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. Place the nuts aside.
- 3). Pry the metal clips that hold the power top hydraulic line away from the car body with a flat-blade screwdriver. Unplug the electrical wiring harness from the top motor by pulling it apart by hand.
- 4). Lift the top motor out of its opening. Disconnect the hydraulic line from the back of the motor by turning the line fitting with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Wipe up any hydraulic fluid spills with a rag. Remove the motor from the passenger compartment.
- 5). Thread the hydraulic line back into the new top motor and tighten it with an adjustable wrench. Place the top motor back into the opening and tighten the holding nuts in a clockwise direction with an adjustable wrench. Push the wiring harness into the new top motor wiring connector until it is fully seated.
- 6). Push the hydraulic line holding clips back into their holes in the car body until they snap into place. Lift the rear seat back into place and push down on the top of it until it locks into place. Angle the rear of the seat cushion into place first, then push down on the front of the cushion until it is fully seated.
