Weekend Destination In Mumbai

Lonavla and Khandala:
Lonavala and Khandala are the twin hill stations, which is at a distance of approximately 96 kms from Mumbai. The place is well known for Chikki. This is a watchable place during monsoon as the place turns into lush green as soon as rain begins and the scenic beauty of waterfalls and ponds is no new to the place. There are numerous points that you visit in Lonavala and Khandala. Some of the prominent places are Rajmachi Point, Ryewood Park, Valvan Dam, Lonavla Lake, Duke's Nose, Tiger's Leap, Karla Caves, Lohagad Fort and Bushy Dam.
Alibaug:
Alibaug is a land of beaches in the outskirts of Mumbai. This is a cool place to relax as you will not find maddening city crowds here. Alibaug has some great history associated with the place. The Kolaba Fort in Alibaug is worth a visit in the shore of Albaug. The Kanakeshwar temple and the Murud-Janjira Fort are also situated very close to Alibaug.
Karshet:
Karshet beach is close to the Alibaug beach. Here you will find lesser crowd than Alibaug, and it serves as a better place to beat crowds in the vacation spots. The local delicacies in Karshet are vacation-friendly.
Matheran:
Matheran is a hill station located at a distance of about 55 kms from Mumbai. It is a major trekking destination and a pollution free place to enjoy your weekend. The natural spots of Matheran gives a fantastic view. Unlike other places, vehicles are not allowed in Matheran with a emeasure to curb pollution in the region. But you will surely enjoy the mini train ride in the place.
Nashik:
Mumbai to Nashik is 172 kms, and is about a 3 hours drive from Mumbai. Home to many vineyards, Nashik is also known as the wine capital of India. You will get to taste some best wines in Nashik on your visit. The Gangapur Dam and Padava Caves are some destinations to watch our during holidays.
Gorai-Manori:
The beaches of Gorai and Manori stays to be the favourite destination of Mumbaites. People love to spend their weekends in these beaches during weekends as it is within the city limits. If you are planning to spend time without thinking about any of your routine, then this is the best place to look out.
Panvel:
Panvel is just an hour drive from Mumbai. Panvel is considered to be the gateway of Konkan region. The Karnala fort lies between Panvel and Penbarapada, which is 65 kms away from Mumbai. There is a bird sanctuary at the bottom of Karnala Fort and you can worship two of the eight Ashtavinayak temples of Lord Ganesha near Panvel.
