- An additional change of clothes for each day you are traveling plus a spare outfit should be placed in your checked bag. Underwear, sleepwear and clothing appropriate for your destination's weather conditions should be included. Roll your clothes individually to minimize wrinkling and place them in luggage organizers so you can remove a group at a time when your are searching for something in particular.
- Toiletries are allowed, regardless of the container's size and capacity, in your checked luggage. Secure the toiletries from leaking by placing them in zipper-style plastic bags. This includes contact lens solutions, shaving creams, razors, sunblock, lotion, facial cream and even toothbrushes and toothpaste. Place the toiletries bag in the middle of the suitcase to reduce the chances of the bottles getting smashed, spilling or bursting.
- Whether you are bringing food as gifts or for yourself, you are allowed to place an unlimited amount of food in your checked bag. If you are planning on bringing liquor, keep in mind the duty-free restrictions of the country you are leaving and visiting. Usually, two bottles of liquor are allowed per passenger. Be sure to wrap them well. Leave odorous and oily foods at home.
- While there are many other things you can place in your checked bag, as compared to your carry-on luggage (such as pepper spray, small appliances and scissors), there are some things you should leave at home. Any form of fireworks or explosives is not allowed for both carry-on and checked luggage. Corrosives such as industrial cleaners and bleach and flammable items such as torches and lighter fluid are not allowed. Aerosol containers, spillable batteries (except those in wheelchairs), spray paint and tear gas are also not allowed.
