Kendal Hotels; the Perfect Location for Your UK Vacation

Stay in Kendal Hotels for a Relaxing Get Away, Long Weekend or Overnight Stay

Kendal hotels, located in the predominately rural county of Cumbria, are a fantastic choice for any UK vacation or short term visit. Kendal, a market town, was anciently known as Kirkby in Kendal or Kirkby Kendal. It can be found nestled among England's Lakelands. Kendal today is most famous for its Kendal mint cake and its mostly grey limestone buildings – which have earned the urban area the nickname the Auld Grey Town.

Attractions

Kendal hotels are situated in a town home to a vast collection of historically thrilling buildings, including office buildings designed and constructed by resident architects, Kendal Castle and Castle Howe and a host of churches and chapels. The castle, assumed to be from the late 1200s, is now mostly ruins. But the grounds are open to the public to wander through and explore, and still provide a thrilling adventure. Other attractions near to Kendal hotels include: The Quaker Tapestry, The Museum of Natural History and Archaeology, and Serpentine Woods.  There was also around 150 yards in Kendal. The city is famed for these narrow yards and lanes that branch out from the main streets. Yard number 17 – which is known as Hoggs Yard – is named after the family who kept a public bake-house there for a number of years in the 1800s. Ann Hogg, a baker, lived next to the yard entrance. In 1841 this particular yard had 52 residents, some of which worked as labourers, weavers, and nail makers.

Kendal hotels are easy to reach as the market town is situated just six miles from the M6's junction 36. Kendal is a town with an interesting industrial history, it's traditional trade was in wool, from which its motto "Pannus mihi panis", or "wool is my bread" was taken.
