Do you procrastinate? Do you have great ideas but never take action on them? Someone once told me that "Procrastination is a symptom of perfectionism.
Perfectionists have an ideal of wanting things to be absolutely flawless.
The problem is that perfection is an unrealistic goal.
People who wait for things to be "perfect" find themselves doing just that, waiting.
The fear of imperfection causes the procrastination and they avoid the task all together.
" When I first heard that I automatically thought "Oh no, you found me out!".
But then an internal shift happened.
I started noticing the big movers and shakers in my industry and thought, "they're not perfect they just take massive action and implement their ideas quickly.
" I then gave myself permission to be imperfect.
It did take some coaching for me to truly understand that the goal is not to do it perfectly.
The goal is to get it DONE! The universe operates with speed, so success comes to those that are the first to implement.
When you operate with speed, you will probably make mistakes, but it's OK.
The point is that you got it done.
You learn from your mistakes, adjust and keep moving.
If you waited for things to be perfect, you would still be waiting and not have anything done and you wouldn't receive the much needed feedback to alter your strategy.
One of my great mentors Paul Hutsey used to say "What's more important? Doing things right or doing the right things?" Think about that for a moment.
Who do you think is more successful, the person who doesn't execute until everything is just right or the person that just executes, and takes action quickly and executes again? Stop waiting, create the success you want, take action today! Here's Your Assignment: 1.
Write a list of all the things you haven't acted on that you've put off and that you're waiting for the perfect time or perfect idea and just do it.
2.
Order your list beginning with easiest or fastest to implement 3.
ACT on your list!
