Self-Acceptance Leads To Self-Improvement

You have tried something new and failed, creating knee-jerk reactions of embarrassment, fear and self-doubt. Instead of locking yourself up in a cage of despair, anxiety and past failures, treat them instead as your teachers. What caused the failure? What changes are required to improve chances of future progress? Embracing your fears will spawn a tutor mentality within you and fears become your tools in self-improvement and prosperity.

When we are confronted with this fear of having failed, it becomes immobilizing to the point of despair creating self-doubt and low self-esteem which will deflate any confidence you had to further strive for your desires. I can only speak from personal experience but when you are unfortunate enough to reach this level, the one thing you must not do is bury your head in the sand and pretend nothing has happened. Start believing that you are not alone and this is just a temporary setback. If you failed at your first attempt accept that legions of entrepreneurs have lived through numerous failures and many of them had worse experiences than you.

This lack of self-acceptance creates a dangerous cycle that compounds low self-esteem yet can be reversed with a degree of patience and periods of stillness and quiet. I say this for good reason. You probably have been overdoing things to save your project, burning the candle at both ends in a panicked attempt to resurrect your venture. All this loads much mental fog into your conscious mind which requires a period of gentle healing which can only happen when the mind has been stilled.

Whichever path you choose to find stillness is not important. In my case, I found myself drawn to learning meditation and self-hypnosis. What is important is allowing the mind to heal itself, develop trust in yourself and become comfortable with ‘who you are now‘ and that can only happen when you are within a zone of stillness and silence. Don't expect instant results as the unwinding process takes a little while to gain pace. A healthy ego will return in its own time and any insecurity and self-doubt will become virtually non-existent.

Believe that everything happens for a reason and every so often, the rule of serendipity gives us a nudge. Self-improvement takes time so instead of choosing to worry about what has happened in the past, move on quickly, choose to accept that whatever happened to derail your ambition simply ‘just happened'. Failures become your tools. They teach you to recognize what your weaknesses are and what you need to do to overcome them.

On your entrepreneurial journey you will learn of successful people who re-appraise and change their strategies whenever a failure is encountered. They acknowledge that failure is feedback. Once you understand this principle, you will overcome the failure demons and achieve success faster than you expected.

Don't buy into the online experts advocating instant results and profit plans, there really is no such thing as an overnight success. Remember, it takes many stumbles and tears before a baby can learn to walk and in many respects, we all become babies when developing new life skills. If we didn't keep getting up again and again, many of us would not be walking today.
